1. Who will be your target audience? (specific age, gender, type not anyone who likes it)
We have decided that our target audience will be teenagers, and mainly teenage girls. This is due to the fact that teenagers are most interested in music and spend a lot of their time listening to and appreciating music, not only this, but our genre of rock/pop fits the age group. I would say the music video and song will mostly be targeted at girls as the video will show a love story, which mainly interests teenage girls as they like to believe in true love etc whereas boys tend to not even think about the idea.
2. What genre of music is your chosen track?
Rock - Pop.
3. What conventions does this style of music use in its videos?
In our video we aim to achieve to keep the viewer interested in the video from start until finish, we want them to watch the whole video so that they get the whole story and the start of the video encourages them to watch it until the end. The main purpose of our music video will obviously be to sell the song, so as the audience watches the video our aim is to make the audience fall in love with the story so that they listen to the song and go out and purchase the album. The video we expect to also keep the viewer interested by making it both performance and narrative based, this, we believe will break the video up a bit so you are watching the video in the past and present tense so the audience will constantly be watching to see the next clip of the story.
4. What type of music video will you film? (narrative, performance, concept or a combination)
We are keeping our video narrative and performance based as we want to show the story of the song as it had a strong storyline to the lyrics, although at the same time our band will be a new-ish band on their third single, first album so they will not be hugely recogniseable by the public, so we need to make them noticed more in the video by making it slightly performance based.
5. Describe the characters in your music video.
Our main characters will be one girl and two boys. The girl will be a typical teenage girl, the one that all of the boys fall for, yet never treat her the way she should be treated. There will be three boys in the video. One will be the main band member, the one that is singing about the girl he is in love with, the other will be his best friend, who is actually going out with the girl his friend is in love with, and the other band member will be an extra who doesn't come up in the story very much although you see him more in the performance based stuff we will do.
6. Where will you film your music video (use more than 1 location and NOT the school and woods)
We have various locations we will set our music video, such as; Skate park, High street, school (one clip of an empty classroom), secret garden and so on.
7. What type of media institution will show your video? (Look at music channels and see which genres are shown on which )
Our music video will be shown on music channels such as Kerrang, Scuzz and MTV. They will also have their own website that fans would be able to access that includes a fanpage and various different music videos and dates of tours and so on.
8. How do media technologies affect the consumption of music videos?
People can now download the video off of the internet before it comes out. Teenagers are downloading a lot more music these days so the song will be much more available to them so it would become popular before the video even comes out and people may be bored of it.
