Question 3 - What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Evaluation Question 3 Video from Ann on Vimeo.

When we came to the evaluation stages of our coursework, we had to get feedback from various different sources to see what a real audience thought of our music video. The way we made sure we recieved enough feedback to in fact evaluate our final product was by 1 - hearing feedback from our teachers 2 - handing out Questionaires during the showing of our music video in which the audience can fill in and tell us what they thought of our music video and 3 - showing other people our music video individually, seeing what they thought of it, and then videoing their responses.
When looking through the Questionaire feedback sheets I can quite clearly see that the audience got the general idea of what type of genre our band were, as many of the responses to the question "What impression do you get of the band?" was in fact "Rock", a few others also stated other comments such as "Relationship issues within the band", "The band don't take themselves seriously, enjoy having a laugh and like being involved during the filming of their own videos" and so on. From these comments, as an individual I can quite clearly see that the audience got the whole idea of our video, and our group and the way that they wanted to present themselves.
When answering question 2 of our Questionaire which was "Which website or TV channel do you think this video would most likely be played?" many of the responses we recieved said "YouTube" their were only a few which thought our video would be shown on music channels such as MTV and Viva, this shows that our audience felt that our band would not be a mainstream band, and would have one type of fan and wouldn't be in the Popular category.
When our audience were asked "What is the story of the video?" every person that responded were correct, the whole story consisted of a boy who was madly in love with a girl, but was too afraid to tell her because she has a boyfriend who isn't the nicest of guys, so then they break up and the good guy gets the girl in the end, from the feedback we recieved I can see that the story we were putting across was very clear and people understood the general idea of our music video.
All of the feedback we recieved from the question "Do the visuals on the screen match the lyrics in the song" was very positive, every single person said that they did, and some even put they did very well, so the visuals and the story match.
As you can see we have filmed various different people from our school who have actually helped us out by giving us feedback on our music video, this helped us come up with a conclusion of how, if anything, we could improve our music video. The first girl on our music video, Chloe, actually says that she found our video funny - which to us, as a group is a positive thing because it's nice to make people laugh and make everything a little more light hearted. She also stated that she believed we made a lot of effort when creating our video by using various different locations and so on, as a group we were proud that the amount of effort we put into making our music video actually come across in the video.
The next two girls who gave us some feedback on the video actually said that they loved the story to our music video, which is nice because the girls who actually said that are within the age group that we are actually targeting, so this means we actually have created a story that our audience will relate to, and will enjoy watching.
Another person actually said that our actors within our music video needed more enthusiasm because the video became a bit dull and boring at certain times, which was of course, a negative to our video, and if we was to do it again we would make sure that we showed our enthusiasm through our acting.
People also commented on how the lyrics and visuals actually linked in very well, which many people had said on the feedback forms also.
Lizzie commented on our music video and said that the actors in our music video were very good, although she had one critism which was to make the shots a bit more dynamic and to add more movement to the camera rather than having the people moving the whole time, which would be to do with improving our camera skills.
So overall we have established that our music video was very effective with the narrative of our peice and the actors were good enough for the music video, although there was a few peices of constructive critism that we recieved and it was mainly to do with the camera and the movement of the camera and how enthusiastic we were as a band. I believe that if we were to re-make our music video all of these improvements could quite easily be changed, and we would have even less improvements to make.
